Nicergoline
Nicergoline, sold under the brand name Sermion among others, is an ergot derivative used to treat senile dementia and other disorders with vascular origins. Internationally it has been used for frontotemporal dementia as well as early onset in Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's dementia. It decreases vascular resistance and increases arterial blood flow in the brain, improving the utilization of oxygen and glucose by brain cells. It has similar vasoactive properties in other areas of the body, particularly the lungs. Unlike many other ergolines, such as ergotamine, nicergoline is not associated with cardiac fibrosis.
Nicergoline ซึ่งวางจำหน่ายภายใต้ชื่อการค้า Sermion และชื่ออื่น ๆ เป็นอนุพันธ์เออร์กอต ใช้สำหรับรักษาภาวะสมองเสื่อมในผู้สูงอายุ และความผิดปกติอื่น ๆ ที่มีสาเหตุมาจากหลอดเลือด ในระดับนานาชาติ ยานี้ยังถูกใช้ในภาวะสมองเสื่อมชนิด frontotemporal รวมถึงภาวะสมองเสื่อมชนิด Lewy body ในระยะเริ่มต้น และภาวะสมองเสื่อมในโรคพาร์กินสัน ยาลดความต้านทานของหลอดเลือดและเพิ่มการไหลของเลือดในหลอดเลือดแดงไปยังสมอง ทำให้เซลล์สมองมีการใช้ออกซิเจนและกลูโคสที่ดีขึ้น ยามีคุณสมบัติออกฤทธิ์ต่อหลอดเลือดที่คล้ายกันในบริเวณอื่นของร่างกาย โดยเฉพาะที่ปอด ต่างจากเออร์โกลีนอื่น ๆ จำนวนมาก เช่น ergotamine ตรงที่ nicergoline ไม่มีความสัมพันธ์กับภาวะพังผืดที่หัวใจ
