Meflotas

Mefloquine is a synthetic 4-quinolinemethanol antimalarial drug developed by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research as part of the U.S. Army's antimalarial drug discovery program initiated in the 1960s to address emerging chloroquine resistance.[1][2] Approved by the FDA in 1984 under the trade name Lariam, it provides prophylaxis and treatment against Plasmodium falciparum malaria, particularly in areas with multidrug-resistant strains, by interfering with the parasite's heme detoxification process in erythrocytes.[3][4]
