Etamsylate is an antihemorrhagic agent which is believed to work by increasing resistance in the endothelium of capillaries and promoting platelet adhesion. It also inhibits biosynthesis and action of those prostaglandins which cause platelet disaggregation, vasodilation and increased capillary permeability.

Etamsylate เป็นยาห้ามเลือด (antihemorrhagic agent) ซึ่งเชื่อกันว่าออกฤทธิ์โดยการเพิ่มความต้านทานของเยื่อบุหลอดเลือดฝอย (endothelium) และส่งเสริมการยึดเกาะของเกล็ดเลือด นอกจากนี้ยังยับยั้งการสร้าง (biosynthesis) และฤทธิ์ของ prostaglandins ที่ทำให้เกล็ดเลือดกระจายตัว หลอดเลือดขยายตัว และความซึมผ่านของหลอดเลือดฝอยเพิ่มขึ้น
