Enzalutamide, marketed under the brand name Xtandi, is a second-generation nonsteroidal antiandrogen medication primarily used to treat various forms of prostate cancer in men. It functions as an androgen receptor inhibitor, competitively binding to the receptor with high affinity to block androgen-driven signaling, thereby inhibiting prostate cancer cell proliferation and tumor growth. Chemically known as 4-{3-[4-cyano-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-5,5-dimethyl-4-oxo-2-sulfanylideneimidazolidin-1-yl}-2-fluoro-N-methylbenzamide, it is administered orally as 40 mg capsules or tablets at a recommended dose of 160 mg once daily, with or without food.
