Wikipedia Bupivacaine hydrochloride

Bupivacaine, sold under the brand name Marcaine among others, is a medication used to decrease sensation in a specific small area. In nerve blocks, it is injected around a nerve that supplies the area, or into the spinal canal's epidural space. It is available mixed with a small amount of epinephrine to increase the duration of its action. It typically begins working within 15 minutes and lasts for 2 to 8 hours.

Bupivacaine จำหน่ายภายใต้ชื่อการค้า Marcaine เป็นต้น เป็นยาที่ใช้ลดความรู้สึกในบริเวณเฉพาะที่ขนาดเล็ก ในการบล็อกเส้นประสาท (nerve block) จะฉีดยารอบเส้นประสาทที่มาเลี้ยงบริเวณนั้น หรือฉีดเข้าช่องนอกเยื่อหุ้มไขสันหลัง (epidural space) ของคลองกระดูกสันหลัง (spinal canal) มีจำหน่ายในรูปแบบที่ผสมกับ epinephrine ปริมาณเล็กน้อยเพื่อยืดระยะเวลาการออกฤทธิ์ของยา โดยทั่วไปยาจะเริ่มออกฤทธิ์ภายใน 15 นาที และออกฤทธิ์ได้นาน 2 ถึง 8 ชั่วโมง
