Amifru Plus

Amiloride, sold under the trade name Midamor among others, is a medication typically used with other medications to treat high blood pressure or swelling due to heart failure or cirrhosis of the liver. Amiloride is classified as a potassium-sparing diuretic. Amiloride is often used together with another diuretic, such as a thiazide or loop diuretic. It is taken by mouth. Onset of action is about two hours and it lasts for about a day.

Amiloride is a potassium-sparing diuretic medication that inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron of the kidney, thereby promoting diuresis while conserving potassium to prevent hypokalemia.[1] It is typically administered orally and is often used in combination with other diuretics, such as thiazides, to enhance their efficacy in managing fluid retention without causing significant potassium depletion. Chemically, it is a pyrazinoylguanidine derivative with the molecular formula C₆H₈ClN₇O.[2]
