Enalapril, sold under the brand name Vasotec among others, is an ACE inhibitor medication used to treat high blood pressure, diabetic kidney disease, and heart failure. For heart failure, it is generally used with a diuretic, such as furosemide. It is given by mouth or by injection into a vein. Onset of effects are typically within an hour when taken by mouth and last for up to a day.

Enalapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor medication that functions as a prodrug, being hydrolyzed in the body to its active form, enalaprilat, to treat hypertension and heart failure.[1][2] It was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1985 under the brand name Vasotec for the treatment of hypertension and symptomatic heart failure, and later for asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction.[3][4][5]
